Philanthropist and social entrepreneur Ronni Kahn founded food rescue charity, OzHarvest in 2004 after witnessing an appalling amount of food going to waste in the events management and hospitality industry.

In the first year the charity delivered 3000 meals to over 100 not for profit organisations catering to disadvantaged Australians. Since then Ronni has campaigned to overturn Civil Liability laws to allow food donors to give away their food for free, recruited a team of dedicated volunteers, drivers and staff members, and is now delivering over 390,000 meals per month to 500 different organisations in Australia.

To date, 17,000,000 meals have been provided to people in need, with foodservice professionals from all areas of the industry getting on board to help feed the hungry.

Neil Perry, Maggie Beer and George Calombaris are just a few contributing chefs to the recently published OzHarvest Cook Book which features recipes devised by some of Australia’s top chefs using left overs.
